Abstract

Games are studied across multiple disciplines, from artificial intelligence and mathematics to archaeology and anthropology, yet often in isolation.

This work introduces the GameTable Network, a COST Action aiming to bridge these fields by integrating AI techniques with archaeological and cultural research on games.

The project seeks to reconstruct historical games, preserve cultural heritage, and develop new computational approaches for analysing games across time and societies.

Context

This work reflects a major interdisciplinary axis of your research, connecting artificial intelligence with cultural heritage and archaeology.

The GameTable Network is an EU-funded COST Action designed to overcome disciplinary fragmentation and foster collaboration between computer scientists, historians, and archaeologists.

It addresses challenges such as reconstructing lost games, modelling historical play, and applying AI to understand cultural evolution, contributing to a broader vision of AI beyond purely technical domains.
